The Church: Cumberland Bible Church is an elder governed body of believers near the towns of Douglass and Augusta, Kansas. The surrounding community is rural but is in close proximity to several other towns and the city of Wichita, Kansas. The Lord has allowed Cumberland Bible Church to be part of these communities for over seventy-five years, is debt-free and well-maintained. The church family has fifty participants ranging from young people to seniors and a core of dedicated leaders.

Pastor: Cumberland Bible Church desires the pastoral candidate be a shepherd who leads, feeds, and protects the flock, while recognizing he is part of a team, serving alongside other leaders. He should be a visionary who can lead God’s people by his example of courage and faith. He needs to have the heart for people of different age groups and walks of life. He also needs to be proficient in preaching and teaching the whole counsel of the Word of God, especially in an expository manner.

Pastoral Requirements

The pastoral candidate must have accepted God’s free gift of salvation and meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. His personal spiritual walk should be kept in balance and priority between Jesus Christ, his family, and the church. The pastoral candidate should hold an undergraduate (Associate/Bachelor) degree from a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching college/institute and have pastoral experience. He must hold fast to the sufficiency and authority of Scripture, and agree with and affirm in writing the Cumberland Bible Church Constitution. Cumberland Bible Church desires a pastor with a family who is willing to invest and has a heart for not only people who live in rural areas but also those who live in neighboring towns.

Pastoral Duties

Regular duties include Sunday morning and evening messages, teaching/overseeing mid-week services or studies, the Lord’s Supper, visiting, officiating weddings and funerals, and shepherding the overall physical, spiritual, and financial care of the church. He is a part of the leadership team in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total church ministry.

Compensation

The weekly salary will be $600 per week in addition to housing in the parsonage. Cumberland Bible Church will pay all parsonage utilities.
